Reflection 8.15.23

Today we read an article about how a certain city in Texas punishes whoever breaks the dress code by making them wear jumpsuits made my inmates OR they have the choice to get some clothes from home. Before we red the article we wrote on the back of the sheet what we knew about the topic before reading. During the reading we underlined/highlighted things we thought were interesting and we circled words we thought our peers might not know.  After the reading we answered questions relating to the topic outlook.

 In class we started reading and analyzing a new poem called We Real Cool, and it references how teenagers feel about themselves doing not great stuff. The one thing that I believe was hard for me was figuring out what my generation believes is cool because all of.my friends aren't your stereotypical zoomer and we all have different opinions on what is cool or not.

 Today we read the long poem from Langston Hueges and we analyzed the poem to the point of understanding that America does not have opportunities for everyone in the country. Those affected are immigrants, people of color, women, other minorities etc.

 Today we took a quiz on argumentative texts and claims. Our class did better than another with a 90 percent average which is pretty good. I wasn't in class yesterday but I started the assignment and I'm almost finished with it. My only issue right now is remembering to do blog posts at the end of class, it's a very tedious thing to do but I know it doesn't take long.
