4.9.24

On my spring break I traveled to New Orleans,  Louisiana with my aunt to spend time with her friend that lives there. Because I had also told my grandmother, who lives in Baton Rouge an hour away, we had to visit her and the family; even though it wasn't planned at first. In NOLA me and my aunt went to an Easter Parade near a bar called the Black Penny. It was only 20 minutes long but it was cute. Once I walked for 2 hours near the apartments while we were staying and saw cool looking graffiti and art everywhere. When we went to Baton Rouge, we stayed with my Great Aunt and my grandmother. We ate out every night and watched movies. Once we went to dinner with my uncle and cousin at a Seafood restaurant. The next day, which was Thursday, we left and drove 7 hours back to Georgia.

Today we started an assignment on analyzing a narrative story and for each paragraph we had to analyze the characters and how they act, etc. It was a little difficult but I almost finished the assignment before the bell rang.

3.22.24

Today we took a quiz on argumentative texts and claims. Our class did better than another with a 90 percent average which is pretty good. I wasn't in class yesterday but I started the assignment and I'm almost finished with it. My only issue right now is remembering to do blog posts at the end of class, it's a very tedious thing to do but I know it doesn't take long.

In class we started reading and analyzing a new poem called We Real Cool, and it references how teenagers feel about themselves doing not great stuff. The one thing that I believe was hard for me was figuring out what my generation believes is cool because all of.my friends aren't your stereotypical zoomer and we all have different opinions on what is cool or not.

2.26.24

Today we read the long poem from Langston Hueges and we analyzed the poem to the point of understanding that America does not have opportunities for everyone in the country. Those affected are immigrants, people of color, women, other minorities etc.

2.22.24

Today we read another poem by Langston Hughes called Mother To Son.  We analyzed the poem and did 12 questions to answer about said poem. The theme overall was to not give up on life and to have someone to talk to about life. Personally the bell ringer question was difficult because, I don't live with my mother and my aunt who is my legal guardian doesn't give good advice to be honest. She's just kinda rude about things. But I did include advice I got from one of her friends, a woman who I associate to be more parent-like than she'll ever be.
